Instagram is a mobile photo-sharing application and service that allows users to share pictures and videos either publicly or privately on the service, as well as through a variety of other social networking platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Flickr. An example of how this tool can be used to assist in Literacy education;

Learners can be encouraged to take pictures about a particular subject/theme and then use this as a vocabulary exercise. For more advanced literacy learners (Level 2), Instagram can be used for picture stories. Learners are then encouraged to tell a story linked to their Insta photos.
